Granite Group Benefits Secure Email 

Granite Group Benefits, An Alera Group Company, is fully committed to providing our clients with the safest and most secure environment for exchanging sensitive and/or private information via email. In order to give you the peace of mind that your personal information (social security number, PHI, etc.) is completely protected and safe, we have implemented a Secure Email Encryption service. Since 2010 all brokers have been required to meet these standards and we are pleased to be one of the leaders in implementation. 

How Secure Email Works 

When someone at Granite Group Benefits sends you a secure email, you will receive an email notifying you. That will arrive in one of two ways: 

  1. An email notification will indicate that someone at Alera Group sent you a secure message. The notification message will contain a link to a Secure Messaging mailbox (Mimecast). Simply click on the link in the email, log in, and retrieve your message. The message remains active for a period of 14 days.
  2. The email will arrive from your Granite Group contact at your inbox as a regular email but will include a footnote about the message being delivered securely. This method occurs if your email system is configured to allow for end-to-end secure transmission.

Retrieving a Secure Email 

When Granite Group sends you a secure email message through it’s portal, you will receive a notification message via standard Internet email (an email you may have previously registered). Click the link contained in the notification message to be taken to the login screen where you will be prompted to enter your email address and password that you established. If you forgot your password, click the Forgot your password link to request an email to reset your password. 

Once logged in, you can read your secure message, print the message to a file, download attachments to your computer, or send a secure reply message. You may not forward the message or add additional recipients to the message. 

Sending a Secure Email 

To send a secure encrypted message to someone at Granite Group using our secure solution, you will need to log in to your Secure Messaging mailbox. Please note that you will only be able to send to recipients at Granite Group Benefits, An Alera Group Company.

Look for an email to arrive within a few minutes that will prompt you to access our secure portal. If you have not received the email with access to the portal after ten (10) minutes, please try again or contact your Granite Group Benefits broker.
